The Bombardier Global 8000 is the fastest jet in business aviation.

Bombardier’s new Global 8000 has received the Transport Canada type certification and is set for entry into service this year.

The fastest business jet in aviation, which completed its first production flight in May, recently announced a new top speed of Mach 0.95.

The type certification, which follows a new industry benchmark for cabin altitude – 2,691ft at 41,000ft – paves the way for similar certification with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

“Bombardier has worked rigorously and collaboratively with Transport Canada toward certification for the Global 8000. This marks a pivotal milestone for Bombardier, our customers and the entire business aviation industry – solidifying the Global 8000’s position as the unrivalled leader setting a new standard,” said Stephen McCullough, senior vice president, Engineering and Product Development, Bombardier.

“This milestone is a powerful testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of our engineering, test and production teams. It showcases their deep expertise and unwavering commitment – qualities that are embedded in Bombardier’s DNA and are the heartbeat that drives everything we do for our valued clients.”

The low cabin altitude will feel to passengers like they are standing on top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai as they cruise at 41,000ft, minimising the physiological stress of flying, says Bombardier.

The Global 8000 is the evolution of the Global 7500, which has amassed more than 250,000 flying hours since it entered service in 2018. The Global 8000 has the fastest speed of any civil aircraft since Concorde. It also boasts a first ever ultra-high cruise speed of Mach 0.92. It can do that for 4,200nm. Alternatively it has a max range of 8,000nm at normal cruise speed.
