Bombardier Challenger 605: Buyer’s and Investor’s Guide
A buyer’s guide to the Bombardier Challenger 605 business jet.
The Bombardier Challenger 605 follows on from the successful Challenger 604 model and over time, its success has eclipsed that of its predecessor since it achieved certification in October 2006. The aircraft carries nine passengers comfortably but can carry 12 in a high density configuration with 3 crew members (including a flight attendant). The seating can be a combination of club, divan or luxury individual and the interior can be made a more work friendly environment with larger worktables and video monitors.
The Challenger 605’s cabin is sized at 28’4 long, 6′”1 high and 8’2″ inches wide (at its widest point).
The Challenger 605 has Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite in the cockpit with EFIS, EICAS and Bombardier EVS.
The aircraft is powered by two General Electric CF34-3B turbofan engines that produce 8,729 lbs of thrust each. The Challenger 605 has the sign wings and engines as the Challenger 604. It can fly over 4,000 nautical miles with seven passengers and two crew members, making non-stop flights like New York to London; Riyadh to Geneva or Singapore to Sydney possible.
The Challenger 605 needs a runway of 5,840 feet (1,780m) to take-off and 2,775 feet (846m) to land.
The broker’s view
“The Challenger 605 offers options such as a triple Flight Management Systems (FMS) and triple Interial Reference Units (IRU). Engine programs also add value to this jet, but they are not as critical since the engines are “on-condition.”
