Business aircraft manufacturer monitoring market

Learjet 60XRBombardier Aerospace is temporarily halting the production later this year of the Learjet 60XR, due to a downturn in market conditions.

Last year, the company delivered 19 Learjet 60XRs but in the first quarter of 2012, had delivered only three aircraft.

A Bombardier spokeswoman said “The company is halting the production of the Learjet 60XR and are monitoring market conditions in the short term. Our analysis suggests that demand will remain low in the near future.”

However, if conditions improve and demand picks up then Learjet 60XR production will be restarted.

The Learjet 40 and Learjet 45 models are gradually being transitted into the new Learjet 70 and Learjet 75 business aircraft. The Learjet 85 is still on track for first flight and entry into service next year.
