Metrojet welcomes first Global 7500 to new Philippines facility
As travel restrictions continue to impact the APAC region, Metrojet Engineering Clark (MEC), the firm’s Philippines based MRO station, has taken its first Bombardier Global 7500 in the new Clark-based facility.
The aircraft has come to the Philippines for hangar parking service because the MEC facility has a business jet maintenance bubble in place.
“The travel and quarantine restrictions continue to impact the flying activities in the APAC [Asia Pacific] region to a certain degree,” said Sarith Vaikuntan, general manager, MEC. “Many aircraft have been idle, waiting for the quarantine curbs to be relaxed. With the business jet maintenance bubble in place, MEC is here to serve and provide these grounded aircraft with a high quality and competitive alternative to Hong Kong and North Asia’s limitations with hangar parking space.”
The new hangar with over 7,100m² of floor space, can accommodate up to 10 business jets including long-range Boeing and Airbus models. The development includes: workshops, stores, staff and customer offices and lounges with available space for a dedicated FBO encompassing a 2500m² two-storey annex building on the rear of the hangar. There is also a 11,000 m2 apron (ramp) in front of the hangar.
The facility has also been designed to the highest international standards, according to Metrojet, including typhoon and seismic resistant features meeting current Philippines’ codes.
