VOO introduces dedicated empty leg feature at Air Charter Expo 24
VOO, a business-to-business software platform, launched a new empty leg feature during Air Charter Expo 2024 (ACE 24) at London Biggin Hill Airport last month. This new feature offers brokers and operators another tool to find and use empty leg flights that otherwise would fly without passengers.
The programme can also identify suitable options such as cost and preferred departure dates function.
By expanding the data source to include empty legs from both VOO bookings and connected flight management systems, the company can find a wider selection of empty-leg-options for brokers to choose from, increasing the chances of finding suitable options for their clients. Brokers can find cost-effective empty legs and request a price for these flights directly through the system. This enables brokers to offer attractive deals to their clients while converting empty flights into passenger flights.
Discounts on empty legs displayed in search results have been available within the VOO software since its launch in 2022. But the new feature makes all positioning flights available on the VOO marketplace visible in a newly developed dedicated section. This section shows all available empty legs flights in chronological order (departure time) nearest the broker’s location within the next 14 days (default settings).
It also has a search functionality that enables clients to search for empty legs from specific departure and arrival airports or within a variable radius in the vicinity of those airports. In addition, the broker is able to search within a specific time range and also search for a specific composition of passengers (men, women, children, infants) – which is important for calculating/planning fuel stops.
The next update, to be released shortly, will enable the display of a price for an available empty leg, which will be shown in the empty leg overview and is available for booking. Brokers can also select a empty leg and add a routing requested by the client and within seconds receive a bookable price for an alternative routing.
