Surf Air, the Los Angeles based all-you-can-fly service, announced on Friday that it has switched operators from Encompass Aviation to Advanced Air.

The news, which reportedly came as a surprise to Encompass Aviation, marks the second time in the past year that Surf Air has changed operators. The now-virtual airline lapsed its Air Carrier Certificate (ACC) in November 2017 whilst transitioning to Encompass Aviation.

Surf Air’s press release stated “Advanced Air’s commitment to safety is what is most appealing for Surf Air” – also citing the operator’s ARGUS Platinum rating. Advanced Air had previously been used to fill in scheduled flights for Surf Air when necessary.

Preferred members of Surf Air will now be able to use Advanced Air’s charter fleet, including a Learjet 45, a King Air 350 and a PC-12, at a discounted rate.

Advanced Air also already offers pay-by-seat corporate shuttles from Los Angeles to Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Monterey, and Napa valley.
