Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre (SHPBASC) celebrated its 10,000th flight movement since opening in April of 2010.

The 10,000th flight movement was a Cayman Islands-registered Bombardier Challenger 604 (pictured) and the milestone occurred in the early morning on May 6, 2013 at Hongqiao International Airport.

Carey Matthews, general manager for SHPBASC said: “Each and every flight is important to us and we are delighted that we have crossed this significant milestone much earlier than we had planned. Coming just a few weeks after the end of the ABACE 2013, the key milestone clearly indicates the scale with which business aviation is taking root in Asia, and that Shanghai is proving to be a key port and growth contributor capturing 33% of all China business aviation traffic.”

Matthews added: “I want to express our full appreciation and admiration of the staff here at SHPBASC and the airport staff at Pudong and Hongqiao for their dedication and professional approach to safety and service delivery. All these flights have been impressively organized without incident. We intend to keep improving and expanding our services as we look toward achieving our 20,000 flight milestone.”

To date, business jet flight activity for both Pudong and Hongqiao for the first four months of 2013 is up 17% compared to the same period in 2012.

“We are off to a healthy start for the year and feel China-based owners are rapidly learning the time and value benefit of utilising these aircraft,” said Matthews. “With that comes more flying and we think the trend is positive for this year.”

The SHPBASC forecast for 2013 is for over 4,200 movements.
