Larry Flynn, former Gulfstream president, dies aged 71

Larry Flynn, former president, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporate and vice president of General Dynamics has passed away at the age of 71.

Flynn’s obituary said: “Larry Flynn, whose lifelong passion was in the aerospace industry, took his final flight to heaven on April 12th, 2023. He was full of patience, humbleness, words of encouragement and guidance, a keen sense of humour and an exceptional ability to make you smile.”

He passed away surrounded by his wife and daughters following a battle with cancer.

Flynn first joined Gulfstream in 1995 and ascended through the ranks to president before eventually retiring in 2015. Before this, he managed six FBOs as vice president with Stevens Aviation. He was inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation in 2020 and held several advisory roles including acting as an advisory board member at Duncan Aviation and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA)

Pete Bunce, president and CEO, GAMA said Flynn was a “staunch champion” of business aviation. He said: “His expertise in all aspects of the industry helped shepherd the growth of Gulfstream and business aviation. Larry led an illustrious career and devoted himself to furthering the recognition of the importance of general and business aviation.

“He will forever be remembered for his steadfast dedication to the industry. On behalf of GAMA and its membership, I offer our deepest condolences to Larry’s family, friends and colleagues.”
