Gulfstream’s fledgling G300 business jet has made its first flight as part of its rigorous flight test programme.

The first G300 took off from Ben Gurion International Airport at 8:05 a.m. local time and flew for 2 hours 25 minutes at a speed of Mach 0.75 and an altitude of 30,000 feet/9,144 metres.

The new addition to the fleet, to replace the G280, was unveiled at a launch at Gulfstream’s base in Savannah, Georgia on September 30th.

“With its combination of safety, technology, performance and cabin comfort, the G300 is a game changer for the super-midsize category,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream.

“This latest investment, designed to exceed our customers’ expectations for large-cabin features in a mid-cabin aircraft, brings another new category leader to our next-generation fleet. With the addition of the G300, Gulfstream truly offers an aircraft for every mission. Achieving first flight at this stage in the programme is a remarkable achievement.”

The new $28.9m aircraft combines transatlantic range with short-field capability and a range of 3,600nm (6,667km) at Mach 0.80 or 3,000nm (5,556km) at Mach 0.84.

It also claims the longest cabin in its class with two living areas and the capacity to accommodate up to 10 passengers.

The aircraft is built in Israel, completed in Dallas, Texas and serviced in Savannah. The first customer delivery is scheduled for the beginning of 2027. Construction of the second and third aircraft has begun.
