A Gulfstream G450 has set the speed record between Savannah, Georgia and São Paulo,Brazil completing the 3,922-nautical-mile flight in less than nine hours.

A Gulfstream G450 has set the flight time record between Savannah, Georgia and São Paulo,Brazil.

The aircraft completed the 3,922-nautical-mile flight in less than nine hours. The aircraft was flying to the Latin American Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (LABACE) and carried six passengers, one flight attendant and two captains.

Gulfstream says the average cruise speed for the flight was Mach 0.80, with altitudes ranging from 41,000 to 45,000 feet. The flight took eight hours 50 minutes.

The US National Aeronautic Association (NAA) has confirmed the flight as a record and has forwarded the figures to the Federation Aeronautique Internationale in Switzerland for approval as a world record.

This is the first time anyone has attempted to claim a record on the route.
