Bombardier has bought a Learjet 85 full-flight simulator from CAE. It will be used to train customers and help with aircraft testing before the first Learjet 85 is delivered in 2013.

“The Learjet 85 aircraft simulator will be instrumental in refining the design and flight characteristics of this remarkable aircraft,” said James Hoblyn, president: Bombardier customer services and specialised and amphibious aircraft. “It will then transition to provide customers with valuable pilot training prior to the delivery of their aircraft, as well as initial and recurrent training throughout the full life cycle of the Learjet 85 aircraft program.”

Customers will be able to use it from the start of 2013.

Bombardier is the only business and commercial aircraft manufacturer that provides pilot training.

“Participating in the Learjet 85 aircraft programme is incredibly exciting for CAE, and further strengthens our relationship that began more than 30 years ago,” said Jeff Roberts, CAE group president: civil simulation products, training and services.

The simulator will be based in Bombardier’s flight training centre in Montreal. Bombardier owns training centres in Montreal, Quebec and Dallas. CAE has an authorised traning provider agreement with the aircraft manufacturer, for simulators in: Morristown, New Jersey; Burgess Hill, United Kingdom; and Dubai, UAE. It will also open a new facility in Amsterdam in the first quarter of 2011.
