Bombardier to build 126,000sqft manufacturing facility in Dorval

Bombardier has unveiled plans for a new 126,000sqft (11,700sqm) manufacturing centre in Dorval, Canada.
Located near the Challenger manufacturing centre and the Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre, the project will cost about $100m and is set to open before the end of 2027.
David Murray, executive vice president, Manufacturing, IT and Bombardier Operational Excellence System, said: “This major investment demonstrates our commitment to support Bombardier’s growth and build the infrastructure we need to maximise our productivity. As we expand our manufacturing capacity, we’re positioning ourselves to keep up with global demand and solidify our position at the top of the business aviation industry.”
Construction is being supported by Canadian state-backed economic development organisation Investissement Québec through its Essor programme which will part finance the build through a $35m repayable loan.
Christine Fréchette, Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy and minister responsible for the Montérégie region, said: “By supporting the expansion of Bombardier, a world‑class prime contractor, our government is generating significant economic benefits for the entire Quebec supply chain and for the aerospace cluster. This investment will also lead to the creation of hundreds of highly skilled, well‑paid jobs, while strengthening Quebec’s expertise.”
The announcement is the latest in a series of major economic contributions by Bombardier to Quebec and Canada. A recent PwC study commissioned by Bombardier found that the Canadian OEM contributed a total of $7.4bn to Canada’s GDP in 2024 and sustained nearly 50,000 jobs across the country.
In December 2025, Bombardier received FAA certification for its Global 8000 business jet. The certification followed Transport Canada (TC) type certification, received on November 5th. Certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is pending.
The aircraft entered service in early December 2025 when Patrick Dovigi accepted the keys to his new aircraft, while Canadian rock star Tom Cochrane presented by Rolling Stone Canada performed at a ceremony at Bombardier’s assembly centre in Mississauga, Ontario.
