Bombardier has launched its certified pre-owned aircraft programme, in response to growing demand post-pandemic. The Canadian OEM said for buyers seeking a “like-new” experience, every Bombardier certified pre-owned aircraft’s airframe is backed by a manufacturer one-year warranty that provides the same cover that a new aircraft has.

“As life gradually begins to return to normal, the supply of business jets across the industry has been outpaced by demand,” said Chris Milligan, vice president, Pre-owned Aircraft Services, Bombardier.

“A Bombardier Certified Pre-owned aircraft provides buyers with the highest quality pre-owned product, equipped with the latest safety and cabin enhancements – while providing the new aircraft delivery experience customers are looking for,” said Milligan.

Each aircraft is equipped with the latest technology through regular maintenance inspections, service bulletins, systems upgrades and enrolment in Bombardier’s Smart Parts Program.

Jean-Christophe Gallagher, executive vice president, Services and Support, and Corporate Strategy, Bombardier said: “Bombardier’s Certified Pre-owned aircraft programme is capitalising on a resilient market where supply still hasn’t caught up with demand.”

“With so many new prospective buyers on the market, Bombardier can fulfill this demand and harness our world-renowned product knowledge, refurbishment capabilities and valuation know-how,” added Gallagher.

Richard Aboulafia, Teal Group’s vice president of Analysis, offered his view to CJI. “Its very tempting for OEMs to start certified pre-owned programmes. [However] It’s very hard for OEMs to improve on the profits seen in the usual used marketplace. But at least it lets them control the supply and price of used aircraft that might compete with a new aircraft sale.”
