2Excel Aviation promotes Simon Spurgeon
Simon Spurgeon has been promoted to business support director and will lead 2Excel Aviation’s new Business Support Unit, encompassing infrastructure, security, IT, health and safety and continuous improvement. Spurgeon has also joined the company’s Executive Board.
Spurgeon joined 2Excel Aviation as operations manager in November 2016 and helped to develop the business’ training material and procedures.
In February 2020 he was promoted to the role of operations director and was the nominated post holder for Ground Operations with responsibility for the Ramp Team. During this time he steered operations against a backdrop of restrictions in aviation associated with the global pandemic, with Brexit, the difficulties of European airspace associated with the conflict in Ukraine and the closure of Doncaster Airport in northern England.
He also chaired the company’s Pandemic Management Team, organised standing European permits for its charter and search and rescue operations during Brexit, and chaired the working Group for the move of operations to Humberside.
“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity,” said Spurgeon. “I currently work with a fantastic team and the work ethic of the people is what makes it run so well. Together we are continuously reviewing ways of working to meet the needs of an ever-expanding 2Excel as we strive to excel in aerospace services delivery, in Britain and beyond, in order to build value for all our stakeholders.”
