Metrojet adds Global 8000 to managed fleet, first in Asia

The aircraft features a cabin altitude of 2,691ft. This feels like standing atop the Burj Khalifa when flying at FL410.
Metrojet has added a Bombardier Global 8000 aircraft to its managed fleet, the company says it is the first of the type to be based in Asia.
Dave Yip, CEO of Hong Kong-based Metrojet, called the addition a “defining moment”.
“The arrival of the Global 8000 demonstrates our ability to deliver world-class management solutions for the most sophisticated aircraft in the industry,” he said. “We are already seeing growing interest from other Bombardier owners, and with our established Bombardier maintenance capabilities, we are confident in providing them with the same excellence and assurance that has long defined Metrojet.”
The Global 8000 offers a top speed of Mach 0.95 and a maximum range of 8,000nm. Typically cruising at Mach 0.85, the aircraft has room for up to 19 passengers across four separate cabin areas. It also features Bombardier’s Smooth Flĕx Wing which is engineered to help dampen turbulence. Power comes from two GE Passport engines.
Captain Stewart Borg, Metrojet’s director, Flight Operations, said: “The Global 8000 sets a new benchmark in capability and performance. Successfully integrating such a technologically advanced aircraft into our fleet required precision, collaboration and strong expertise. I am immensely proud of our operations team, whose professionalism ensures that Metrojet continues to lead with safety and excellence.”
