Remembering aviation veteran Matt Stringfellow

Along with a love of flying and years of experience in the brokerage business, Stringfellow was an outdoorsman and traveller. He held a degree in aviation from Purdue University.
Matt Stringfellow, founder of aircraft brokerage and advisory firm HYE Aero and co-founder of aircraft brokerage SOLJETS, has died.
Remembering their former colleague, the SOLJETS team said: “To know Matt was to know someone who brought energy and humour wherever he went. He had a way of making people feel welcome, turning colleagues into friends and making every conversation a little more memorable.
“Matt was a huge part of SOLJETS and an even bigger part of the lives of those who knew him. Anyone who knew Matt likely has a story, a laugh, or a memory they’ll never forget. We are grateful for the years, the friendship and the memories.”
A veteran of business aviation, Stringfellow spent more than two decades in aircraft ownership, operations and brokerage.
Launching HYE Aero in February 2026, a “defining pillar” of the company was the HYE Aero Foundation which donates 10% of all profits from the firm to charitable causes aligned with the values of HYE Aero and its clients.
Before that, Stringfellow co-founded SOLJETS in 2015 alongside David Lee and Greg Oswald, launching operations in January 2016.
In a release to its members, the International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA) stated: “We write today with heavy hearts to share that the business aviation community has lost a colleague and friend. Matt Stringfellow passed away yesterday, and his loss will be felt deeply by many in our industry.
“Matt was known to countless members of this community – for his professionalism, his warmth and the genuine relationships he built over the course of his career. He leaves behind friendships that crossed company lines and lasted well beyond any single role.
“We extend our sincerest condolences to his HYE Aero and SOLJETS families, his friends and all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.”
