Vedder Price opening London aviation office, Hill leaving Clyde

Aviation lawyer Gavin Hill is leaving Clyde & Co to open a London office for Vedder Price. It is the US firm’s first foreign office.

Hill is a well-respected London lawyer who helped build Clyde & Co’s aviation team alongside the firm’s aviation insurance practice.

Vedder has three offices in Chicago, New York and Washington DC and a strong transportation team headed by Dean Gerber.

Hill has represented a mixture of aircraft buyers and financiers. He has advised German bank NordLB for a number of years.

Vedder Price is expected to announce the move formally in October.  

In a statement Clyde & Co said: “Its a shame that Gavin has chosen to leave just as we are rapidly expanding our highly-regarded aviation finance capabilities across the firm, augmenting the group in London and in parallel building the team in many of the key markets, including Hong Kong, new Delhi, the Middle East and the United States. This all takes place just as the firm takes on a completely different scale with the merger with BLG, with the associated demands for additional skills and capabilities that transitioning to another level brings. We naturally thank Gavin for his significant contribution to creating such a strong group at Clyde & Co and its expansion  to date, and we wish him the best of luck in his new role.”
