UTair, Russia’s largest helicopter
operator, has ordered 20 AS350/AS355 versions of Eurocopter’s
Ecureuil light helicopters.

The helicopters will be delivered
between the middle of 2011 and the first three months of 2013.

“The growth of UTair’s fleet with
these 20 Ecureuils will strengthen our leadership position on the worldwide
helicopter market, as these lightweight helicopters perfectly meet the highest
industry standards and are very welcomed by our customers in Russia and
worldwide,” said Andrey Martirosov director of UTair Aviation.

Eurocopter says
that it is the largest Russian light helicopter order ever.
UTair operates
more than 250, mostly Russian, helicopters. It is one of the four largest civil
helicopter operators in the world in terms of number of flights. Much of its
business is supporting the oil and gas industry. It is also the largest
provider of transport services for United Nations peacekeeping missions.
