Gulfstream has successfully flown the second G650 it has built. T2, as the aircraft is known, flew for over two hours. The first G650, which first flew on November 25, 2009, was also in the air at the same time.

The manufacturer will test five aircraft in total. Each aircraft will be subject to different tests. T1, the first aircraft, will be used to check performance and flight controls. The tests on T2 will focus on systems.

The first aircraft has reached a maximum speed of Mach 0.90 and a top altitude of 47,000 feet (14,326 m). It is expected to fly at Mach 0.92 -its planned top speed – in the next few months. If successful it will become the fastest business jet in the world.
