George J Priester Aviation has recruited Ron Carlstrom to the role of chief financial officer (CFO).

During 20 years of senior executive leadership, Carlstrom has worked as CFO in a range of industries including technology, software as a service and life insurance.

Brent Moldowan, company president and CEO welcomed his appointment. “Ron’s experience has demonstrated his acumen in managing and coordinating large-company resources, as well as the unique needs of companies that are growing from one stage to another,” they said. “His strengths help us continue to unify our family of brands and strategically map out the next chapter of an 80-year company.”

Commenting on his new role at the private aircraft management and charter provider, Carlstrom said the company’s legacy resonated with him.  “I welcome the opportunity to work with people who are invested in the company’s success. I look forward to helping bring this successful team together into one unified, scalable operating environment,” he said.

With long experience of family-owned businesses, Carlstrom initially worked for the Chicagoland retail stores operated by his parents. He later served in various positions including financial leader for a digital interactive agency that was acquired by one of the world’s largest HR technology providers.

He also worked with life insurance firm AccuQuote and reportedly helped position the company for acquisition, resulting in a successful acquisition by global insurance leader, Swiss Re Group. After the acquisition, he led the integration of financial reporting and helped build a robust financial governance framework.

Carlstrom holds an MBA in finance and a B.A. in history, minoring in economics. Downtime with his wife and three children often centres on playing hockey in a backyard rink or traveling to concerts and outdoor activities.

Meanwhile, last month the company revealed a series of senior executive management appointments.
