Embraer Phenom 100 executive jet can now carry up to seven passengers

Phenom 100The Embraer Phenom 100 jet has received certification
to allow for a belted toilet which means that the aircraft can now carry up to
seven passengers. The Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and
European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued the certificate last month.

In order to be certified for takeoff and landing, the
belted toilet seat had to undergo a series of certification tests to ensure the
highest levels of safety.

For example, it had to withstand an impact of up to
21 times the force of gravity and still assure the passenger’s physical safety.
Modifications include adding a belt to the toilet seat and reinforcements to
the aft bulkhead divider. This new option will also be available to existing
operators as a retrofit, later this year.

Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) approval is expected soon.
