Patrick’s advice

“Have a good team: a good financing partner, a good lawyer and a good aircraft guy who will “kick the tyres”. If you fall down on any of these you will not be able to complete the deal or you will complete but end up with a bad asset. You should avoid revealing that coming up with the money might become an issue.”

Background

“I got into aviation through a good friend of mine, Carl Nelkin, an aviation lawyer and ex-GPA lawyer. He wanted a law firm to assist him on some aspects of a large transaction at the financing end and that is where I came in. 12 years later I am still involved in that business relationship and through others like Humphrey Dawson, another aircraft lawyer stalwart, lots more deals and relationships.”
