Mente, Embry-Riddle, Aero Law Group flight department course scheduled
Dallas, February 12, 2019 – An essential course for flight department leaders and managers sponsored by Mente Group, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Aero Law Group PC has been scheduled for June 3-7, 2019 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The syllabus will be conducted by well-qualified aviation professionals with many years of experience from the three participant organisations. The week-long learning course, entitled The Business of Business Aviation, will be conducted at the David B. O’Maley College of Business, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
The course is designed to educate aviation managers and potential managers on the intricacies of accounting, budgeting, corporate finances, and the legal and tax issues involved with aircraft acquisition and operation.
“This course is a must attend for those in the industry and those breaking into the corporate flying industry,” said Mente Group Vice President of Strategic Consulting Cole White, who will be an instructor for the class. “The week-long curriculum also covers aircraft selection, the transactional process and pitfalls for aircraft acquisition and disposition, and asset life-cycle management.”
Other instructors include Kevin Austin, founder of Aero Law Group PC and now Of Counsel to the Bellevue, Washington aviation law firm, and Professor Bert Zarb and Associate Professor John Longshore of Embry-Riddle.
Cole White heads Mente Group’s strategic consulting division that provides robust fleet planning and feasibility studies for business aviation owners and fleet operators. He holds a degree in Systems Management from West Point with a focus on Systems Engineering. He has also completed post-graduate work at Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business, where he studied Financial Reporting for Managers, Strategic Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Planning and Valuing of Projects and Investments, Managerial Accounting and Corporate Strategy, and Value Creation.
Bert Zarb is Professor of Accounting and Chair, Department of Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Information Sciences at Embry-Riddle, Daytona College of Business. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Accounting from Argosy University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. Zarb holds CPA licenses from Florida and Georgia. John Longshore is Associate Professor of Management from Embry-Riddle in the Management, Marketing and Operations Department. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Management from Nova Southeastern University, a Key Performer Professional Certificate from the University of Virginia and a Professional Certificate in Business and Marketing from the University of Pennsylvania.
Kevin Austin of Aero Law Group PC, has 45 years of experience in the industry and the firm, which he founded, has more than 750 clients. In addition he serves in an advisory capacity to aerospace industry participants worldwide. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Stanford Law School and has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Seattle University.
