Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 22 January 2019 – Krimson, the Ethiopia-based aviation services company, has appointed Getahun Seifeselassie to the role of flight operations supervisor with immediate effect. The new position has been created in response to Krimson’s continued strengthening of market position in Ethiopia and the east Africa region.

A rise in demand for local ground handling in Ethiopia, the corresponding increased demand for overflight permissions since the opening of Eritrean airspace,  and the growth in requests for trip planning services across east Africa from international and intra-continental clients, have all contributed to the need for the expanding company’s need for a dedicated flight operation supervisor position.

Seifeselassie, who will report to Krimson Managing Director and founder Dawit Lemma, is responsible for a full range of flight operations services including development and filing of flight plans; performing flight briefings for crew and passengers; as well as navigating the complexity of sourcing all necessary overflight and landing permits at African airports. The role also involves the arranging of ground handling services including fuelling, catering, accommodation and ground transport services.

“The role of flight operations supervisor is an important and sometimes demanding one. It provides a service which is vital to the safe, orderly and expeditious operation of aircraft,” said Lemma. “We looked for a motivated individual able to deliver results in an evolving and dynamic environment, who understands the particular operational systems of Ethiopian aviation, and who could assist in evolving the company in an exciting period of growth. We’re delighted to have found that person in Getahun.”

Seifeselassie, who holds a bachelor’s degree from Admas University and is working on a post graduate programme in public management from the Ethiopian Civil Service University, has an extensive aviation background. He served as an air traffic controller at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport for 14 years and worked for the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority in a variety of roles including trip support and air traffic management.

“I’m very pleased to join Krimson at such an important time for aviation in this region. We are seeing marked growth in the need for reliable ground services from intra-continental and global aircraft operators. Our local knowledge combined with our international outlook positions Krimson well to serve the differing needs of our varied client base. I’m looking forward to working closely with Dawit to generate more business and develop the company further,” said Seifselassie about the new role.
