HondaJet moves closer towards certification

Honda say that their $4.5 million HondaJet has completed all of the function and reliability test conditions needed to secure a full type certificate.

  • The company is now concluding flight testing, which are expected to be completed in the next few days. So fr during the flight test program the aircraft has visited 54 airports in 31 US states.

    “Honda Aircraft will conclude testing with the FAA in a few days, which will pave the way for HondaJet type certification and entry into service,” said Michimasa Fujino, president and CEO, Honda Aircraft Company. “We are expecting FAA type certification of the world’s most advanced light jet very soon.”

    During the HondaJet NBAA press conference, Fujino said that the first HondaJet deliveries would be in December.

    Following receipt of the full type certificate, Honda will ramp up production of the twin jet. Currently there are 25 aircraft in various stages of production.

    The company is aiming to deliver three aircraft per month during 2016.
