Honda has kept a promise it made earlier in December, and delivered the first HondaJet before the end of 2015.

The company made the promise during its ceremony to celebrate the HondaJet gaining its full type certificate from the US FAA.

  • Hondajet gets its type certificate, deliveries to begin soon
  • “We are very excited to commence deliveries of the HondaJet, fulfilling Honda’s commitment to advancing human mobility through innovation,” said Michimasa Fujino, president and CEO, Honda Aircraft Company. “Honda Aircraft has now extended this commitment skyward with the delivery of our first aircraft, and I hope we soon will begin to see many HondaJets at airports around the world.”

The first aircraft delivered is serial number 42000011 / N420EX, although the owner currently remains unidentified.

The FAAs online aircraft registration database has yet to show the ownership change, although this could be due to closure during the holiday period.

However, according to a search on flight tracking website flightaware.com, the aircraft has yet to leave Honda’s Greensboro, NC facility.

Fujino had said during 2014 that the company would deliver 50 aircraft within 12 months of the first delivery, rising to 80 the following year.

As of early December there were 25 aircraft in various stages of production.
