The Highland Jet Centre is eager to bolster its staff and welcome its first private jet after opening for business at Inverness Airport in Scotland last year.

John MacCullum, one of four founding directors of the company, said: “We are looking to establish two or three full-time jobs this year.”

MacCullum also admitted that another priority is to attract the first business jet to the FBO, having only worked with turboprops since opening.

As owners of both Dalcross Handling and Dalcross Logistics also based at Inverness Airport, MacCullum and his colleagues – David Geddes, David Hourston and Niall Scoular – believe that although figures were down last year, private aviation in the region – driven mainly by sports and tourism – has escaped largely unscathed from the recession.

“The business [aviation] side in the Highlands is buoyant,” said MacCullum. “I do not think it has really been affected because of the wealth that is already here and the type of clients that we attract.”

The Highland Jet Centre is in direct competition with Signature Flight Support, who up until last year had maintained a monopoly over business aviation at Inverness Airport.
