Hamad Medical launches AW139 air ambulance fleet

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Ambulance Service announces the arrival of three AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters.

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Ambulance Service in Qatar, UAE has received the first of three AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters, which will be used as air ambulances.

Dr. Robert Owen, CEO of the HMC Ambulance Service, said: “Our fleet is purpose built for the unique needs of the State of Qatar. We are delighted to be working with the highly skilled and professional QEAF to provide the LifeFlight air ambulance service. These helicopters are an essential element of the fleet and they are most appropriate in cases where speed is of the essence.”

Dr. Ibrahim M Fawzy Hassan, deputy medical director for the Ambulance Service, said: “At the Ambulance Service we are always looking for ways to get the best clinical care to patients as quickly as possible. This is how we can improve mortality rates and provide the people of Qatar with a top quality service. The launch of these LifeFlight helicopters marks a very important addition to the Service and one that will greatly benefit our patients.”
