Gulfstream reclaims LA to Farnborough speed record from Bombardier

Gulfstream’s record-setting flight departed Los Angeles International Airport and landed at Farnborough Airport, breaking Bombardier’s record by 19 minutes.

Gulfstream reports its G700 has set a new speed record from Los Angeles (LA) to Farnborough, UK, completing the 4,740nm journey in 8 hours and 27 minutes from takeoff to touchdown. 

The record has been claimed back less than two weeks after Bombardier announced it had set a new record from LA to Farnborough with its Global 8000 aircraft. It completed the journey in 8 hours and 46 minutes at a top speed of Mach 0.93 – which was 2.2% faster than the previous record.

Earlier this week, Gulfstream posted its strongest quarterly order performance since 2022. Aerospace revenue reached $3.5bn in the quarter, up 15.1% from $3.06bn a year ago, driven by three additional aircraft deliveries and higher service revenue at both Gulfstream and Jet Aviation.

It also delivered 41 aircraft in total during the quarter, of which 35 were large cabin and six were mid cabin.
