FlyUSA has opened a new 50,000-square-foot hangar and private owners-only lounge at Tampa International Airport, consolidating its primary maintenance operation and housing 20 of its 30 regional aircraft under one roof for the first time.

The facility is one of the only corporate hangars in the region capable of accommodating the newest generation of ultra-long-range jets, including the Gulfstream G700 and Bombardier Global 7500, with a specialised tail door designed for aircraft up to Boeing 737 size. The location will support approximately 30 employees and serves as FlyUSA’s primary maintenance base.

“The sheer size of the hangar should help accelerate our move into managing larger aircraft, because we have space for them now,” said Barry Shevlin, CEO of FlyUSA. “The hangar shortage is still definitely an issue, and it’s particularly bad for people buying the newest ultra-long-range aircraft like the Gulfstream G700. They don’t fit in most hangars that were built more than five years ago.”

The owners-only lounge is reserved exclusively for FlyUSA aircraft owners, not charter passengers, and includes individual owner lockers, a conference room and amenities designed to function as a private club rather than a traditional FBO lounge.

FlyUSA employees handle all fuelling and ground movements in-house. “In our facility, it’s just us,” Shevlin said. “Our owners are the priority. It just runs smoother.”

The Tampa hub sits on the north side of the airport, away from existing FBOs, requiring FlyUSA to build self-sufficient ground operations, experience it said was accelerated by its existing management of Clearwater Executive Airport.

The opening follows FlyUSA’s third consecutive appearance on the Inc. 5000 list. The company is targeting 100 aircraft under management and $500m in annual revenue by 2032, with a second 50,000-square-foot hangar planned for Lakeland, Florida, expected to come online in late 2028 or early 2029.
