Embraer increases Legacy 450 range

Embraer has increased the range of its Legacy 450 mid-light business jet,
The Brazilian plane maker has added a further 325nm / (602 km) to the Legacy 450, giving it a new maximum range of 2,900nm / (5,371 km).
Th company says that the extra range will allow the aircraft to connect further city pairs, including New York and Los Angeles, and Shanghai and Jakarta.
To be able to increase the range, Embraer has had to make minor wing modifications to accommodate further fuel loading. Additional changes are made in the avionics and fuel control unit.
The first aircraft with the additional range will be delivered in the third quarter of 2016, and Embraer say that there will be a retrofit kit available for those aircraft already delivered.
“The Legacy 450 was designed to be a game-changing mid-light business jet. Now, we have decided to go the extra mile to meet customer needs for transoceanic range in a best-in-class cabin,” said Marco Tulio Pellegrini, president & CEO, Embraer Executive Jets. “The additional range extends the aircraft’s operational envelope without compromising its already certified performance. The Legacy 450 goes beyond expectations.”
Embraer says that the price of the Legacy 450 remains unchanged at $16.57 million.
