AXIS Flight Training Systems has signed Southern Pacific Flight Training as a customer.

The flight simulator manufacturer will deliver an ATR 72-600 full flight simulator to Brisbane-based Southern Pacific Flight Training by January 2019. The simulator will be certified to CASA and EASA Level D FFA standards – the highest FFS standard currently available. IT will also feature ATR New Avionic Suite standards 2.1 and 3 (convertible).

Jean-Luc Laydevant, of AXIS Switzerland, said the deal was the result of the company’s “strong drive and momentum towards international expansion”, with particular focus on the Asia Pacific region.

“With this latest transaction, we are pursuing our growth strategy whilst ensuring we provide Southern Pacific Flight Training and all of our customers with a high-quality service,” added David Nolan, of AXIS Finance.

And David Cohen, CEO of Southern Pacific Flight Training, added: “The ATR 72-600 airliner, a twin-engine turboprop, is especially popular in the Asia Pacific region for short-haul regional and inter-island journeys. AXIS’ simulator will enable us to fulfil the training needs of multiple airline customers we have signed in the region.

“Additionally, as the aviation industry in the region continues to grow, it will help us address the ever-increasing demand to train more pilots.”
