Asia Jet, the Hong Kong-based charter specialist, has won the ‘Asia’s Leading Charter Operator’ award at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony 2018.

Held in Hong Kong in early September, the awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.

Asia Jet’s award breaks a recent run of domination by China’s Deer Jet which had won the award each year between 2014 and 2017

Hongkong Jet, a subsidiary of Deer Jet, acquired Asia Jet in 2016.

“Asia Jet is delighted to accept this coveted accolade from World Travel Awards – the sales team have really stepped it up this year and our clients are being rewarded with our best in class personalized service.” the company said on its website.

Asia Jet’s award comes in the same year that it is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its founding.

In 2015 it entered into a joint venture with Malaysia-based Berjaya Vacation Club and based a Gulfstream G200 in that country to capitalise on the growing need for business-jet charter in the region.
