Customer cancels only A380ACJ order
Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, the only customer for the executive version of Airbus’ twin main deck A380, has cancelled his aircraft order.
The ‘green’ aircraft, which had been ordered at the 2007 Dubai Air Show, had sat at the French airframers’ Toulouse home-base having never had its interior fitted.
Airbus has struggled to get orders for its flagship A380 head of state aircraft since its launch in 2007.
As well as the firm order from Prince Alsaud, Dubai-based Al Jaber Aviation placed a letter of intent for two VVIP A380ACJs at the same Dubai show, but the company failed to convert their interest into firm orders.
Airbus officially removed the order from its order books in early February 2015. Corporate Jet Investor contacted Airbus, but they were unavailable to comment.
