Aviation Registry Group appoints David Colindres as vice chairman
Colindres’ experience working with stakeholders across international markets will now contribute to the strategic and operational direction of the wider group, according to a press release.
Aviation Registry Group (ARG) has appointed David Colindres as vice chairman.
Colindres will remain president of the San Marino Aircraft Registry (SMAR) while taking on his new group-level responsibilities.
As vice chairman, he will also serve as a member of ARG’s executive board, with responsibility for overseeing the operations of the group of registries as a whole. ARG’s international registry portfolio currently includes The Registry of Aruba, the San Marino Aircraft Registry and, most recently, the Gibraltar Aircraft Registry.
“I am honoured to take on this expanded responsibility within Aviation Registry Group while continuing to lead the San Marino Aircraft Registry,” said Colindres. “As the group grows, so does the opportunity to bring together the experience and knowledge developed across our different registry operations. Each jurisdiction has its own regulatory framework and identity, and our objective is to build on those individual strengths while ensuring that we continue providing the level of safety, compliance and service expected by aircraft owners and operators around the world.”
Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Miami, Aviation Registry Group has more than 30 years of experience in civil aviation regulation, technical services and safety oversight. Its work spans aircraft registration and certification, regulatory compliance and support for civil aviation authorities, aircraft owners, operators and financial institutions internationally.
ARG has operated The Registry of Aruba since 1995 and the San Marino Aircraft Registry since 2012, with Gibraltar becoming the latest addition to the group’s portfolio.
Colindres has played a central role in the development and international growth of the San Marino Aircraft Registry. Established in 2012 through a public-private partnership between the Republic of San Marino and Aviation Registry Group, SMAR has developed into an internationally active registry serving private, corporate and commercial aircraft operations.
The expanded role will see Colindres work across ARG’s registry operations, supporting group-level strategy and operational coordination while working with the leadership teams responsible for each individual registry.

The group is supported by an international team that includes professionals with backgrounds at organisations and aviation authorities including ICAO, the Federal Aviation Administration, UK Civil Aviation Authority, European Union Aviation Safety Agency, Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation and Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
