Global investment group Kompass Kapital announced investment in Kansas City-based private aviation company Airshare to help grow its business and expand its fleet of aircraft.

Airshare operates a fleet of more than 100 aircraft and offers fractional ownership, jet cards, aircraft management, and charter services across the US and internationally.

Private aviation operator Airshare is upgrading its fleet of Embraer Phenom 300 jets with Gogo’s latest in-flight connectivity system, bringing broadband speeds previously associated with larger cabin aircraft to light jets.

The Kansas City-based company will install the Gogo Galileo HDX system across its Phenom 300 fleet, starting this month at its maintenance facility in Wichita. The system runs on Eutelsat OneWeb’s low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellite network and promises download speeds of up to 60 Mbps, enough to support streaming, video conferencing, and general browsing for multiple passengers simultaneously.

The decision came after a demonstration flight that put the system through its paces.

With 23 devices connected across eight passengers and two crew members, the setup transferred more than 16GB of data over one hour while running Netflix, YouTube in 4K, FaceTime, Microsoft Teams, and several other bandwidth-heavy applications at the same time.

“Delivering premium connectivity that keeps customers productive and entertained is essential to our flying experience,” said Airshare CEO John Owen.

The Galileo HDX uses an electronically steered antenna which is compact and lightweight making it easier to retrofit onto smaller aircraft without significant structural work. This is a key consideration for light jets like the Phenom 300, which have less room for hardware than their larger counterparts.

Gogo’s chief commercial officer, Michael Skou Christensen, framed the deal as part of a broader shift in passenger expectations. “High performance connectivity is no longer a nice-to-have, and it’s no longer limited to large cabin aircraft,” he said.
