Approaching the airport in thick fog, the Mexican-registered aircraft apparently veered of course and crashed into an industrial estate, destroying the aircraft and the building that the aircraft crashed into.

Fortunately, nobody was in the building at the time of the accident.

The accident happened at 19:45 local time, with visibility reported at 800 m in fog and clouds being broken at 200 ft above sea level.

The aircraft was returning from Cozumel Island, off Mexico’s south-west coast, carrying Mexican newscaster Antonio Davila, his wife and son, three family friends and two crew members during the time of the accident.

This is the fourth private jet accident, which has resulted in fatalities, to have occurred so far in 2014.
