Sapphire Aviation launches new FBO at Lee-on-Solent

Sapphire Aviation takes over three former naval hangars and apron at Lee-on-Solent.

Sapphire Aviation has started fixed-based operations at Lee-on-Solent in the south of England, and has taken over three former naval hangars and 100,000 square feet of ramp space. Sapphire Aviation intends to built a new purpose built FBO of at least 20,000 square feet.

Owned by Sapphire Jet Limited, Sapphire Aviation is headed by Steve Ford, managing director. Ford was a demonstration pilot for British Aerospace Corporate Jets involved in development flight test of the Hawker 1000 at Woodford and production flight test of the 125-800/1000 at Chester in the early 1990’s.

The company has maintenance partners on site that compliment their service support, they are Bournemouth Avionics Limited and Aerotech Solent Limited (subsidiary of Aerotech Coventry).

Sapphire Aviation started trading at Lee-on-Solent on 1st October 2012.
