Gama Aviation acquires Capital Air Ambulance.

Gama Aviation has acquired Capital Air Ambulance from Centreline to boost its fixed wing air ambulance services in the UK. The terms of the deal, which remains subject to closing, were undisclosed.
Signed on Tuesday (June 10th), the agreement will result in the transfer of the Capital team to Gama Aviation. This will increase the resilience of the group’s existing Care Quality Commission and Eurami approved clinical team as well as its flight operations and pilot networks, according to the company.
Mark Smith, MD of Gama Aviation’s Special Mission strategic business unit added: “Strategically the acquisition allows us to achieve two complementary activities; one, grow our share of the repatriation market and two, enhance, the productivity of our non-contracted air ambulance fleet. With this deal, we will achieve both goals in a shorter timescale, and with less execution risk, than if we had organically grown our existing share of the repatriation market.”
Operated as one of the UK’s leading specialist air ambulance services before the acquisition, Capital Air Ambulance provided rapid response medical repatriation services with a guaranteed bed-to-bed service. Capital specialised in providing an air ambulance medical repatriation service for patients who need to return to the UK from European destinations, whether insured or privately funded. The company’s King Air aircraft could accommodate up to two patients using its single or dual LifePort stretcher system, together with medical staff and at least one travelling companion.
Gama Aviation was advised mergers and acquisitions advisory firm Clairfield Limited. More follows.
Meanwhile, in April, Gama Aviation received approved to conduct line maintenance on the Cessna Citation 560XL and XLS at its base maintenance facility in Bournemouth, UK. The approval adds to Gama’s existing line maintenance activity at Luton and via its UK-based mobile Maintenance Service Team (MST).
