The Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands has granted an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to Metrojet.

This is the first time that Metrojet, one of Asia’s leading business aviation companies, has moved operations outside of Asia.

“Establishing our presence in the Cayman Islands and achieving AOC approval is a key step in our long-term growth strategy,” said Dave Yip, chief executive officer, Metrojet. “It reflects our commitment to operational excellence and our focus on delivering flexible, high-quality business aviation solutions to clients across the region.”

Metrojet has added its first aircraft to the Cayman AOC and plans to add a second one soon.  With the AOC it can make these aircraft available for charter.

The Hong Kong business jet operator has established a new company called Metrojet SEZC in George Town, Cayman Islands. It has hired its first employee in the Cayman Islands.

Owned by the Kadoorie family, Metrojet was the first business jet operator in Hong Kong when it launched in 1997 (the Kadoorie family was also the first owner and operator of a private helicopter in Hong Kong). The Kadoorie family is well known for owning The Peninsula Hotel Group.

Metrojet has maintenance facilities in Hong Kong and in Clark in the Philippines.

The announcement was made as part of Corporate Jet Investor Asia 2025. Sylvia Lee, director of aircraft management services, is speaking on the ‘Art of Management’ session.
