Sojitz has bought a minority stake in US-based charter specialist ACJ Jet Charters.

The move allows the Japanese company to use ACJ’s Air Operator Certificate to set up and run its own management and charter company in the US.

Using the Phenix Jet name, the company is based in Guam and has a regional office in Hong Kong. Its website currently lists two Bombardier Global 6000s and one Gulfstream G650 as available for charter.

Sojitz says it set up Phenix Jet to capitalise on an increase in wealthy individuals and companies using private jets in Asia.
