Rockwell Collins expands FANS 1/A to Falcon 50EX and 2000/2000EX business jets.

Rockwell is expanding its FANS 1/A capabilities and is offering upgrades on Dassault Falcon 50EX, Falcon 2000 and Falcon 2000EX aircraft currently equipped with Rockwell Collins avionics and flight management systems.

These business aircraft now have an upgrade path for Future Airspace Navigation System (FANS) 1/A capability. The enhancements will be available from Rockwell Collins in 2015.

Craig Olson, vice president and general manager, business and regional systems for Rockwell Collins, says: “We’re committed to keeping our customer base up-to-date for flying in modernized airspace around the globe, and FANS 1/A provides significant benefits for transiting the North Atlantic.”

The FANS 1/A upgrade will save operators both time and fuel, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract (ADS-C) and Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), which together make up the FANS package should also reduce pilot workload.
