Rectrix Aviation has in the best interest of safety banned hoverboards or any lithium battery powered self-balancing personal transportation devices onboard its aircraft.

Rectrix Aviation is the first private charter air carrier to prohibit these items.

“The safety of our passengers and employees is always our top priority.”

Rich Cawley, CEO of Rectrix Aviation said: “The safety of our passengers and employees is always our top priority. Until we can be assured that these devices pose no danger, we will keep them on our list of prohibited items for both carry-on and checked baggage.”

The controversy centres around the potential safety risk of the lithium-ion batteries that power these devices. Several commercial carriers announced the same restrictions over the past 24 hours.

Rectrix has FBOs in key locations on the East Coast, including Bedford, Worcester, and Hyannis, Massachusetts as well as Sarasota, Florida.
