After the excitement of the Olympics it was always going to be hard for LABACE to keep it going.  The impeachment of Dilma Rousseff was also an unwelcome distraction.

There was very little news this year. Even locally based manufacturer Embraer only managed to put out one press release. And that was about an order for two Phenom 300s for a Chinese operator.

Elsewhere Dassault gave the Falcon 8X its LABACE debut. The new tri-jet has recently gained both its US FAA and European FAA certifications, and Dassault is expecting Brazilian certification soon.

Another aircraft expecting to get its Brazilian certification soon is the Citation Latitude. Cessna has delivered 32 Latitude’s in the 12 months since the first aircraft left factory, and are expecting to deliver the first Brazilian registered aircraft in the next few weeks.

Bombardier announced the first delivery of a Mexican Challenger 650.

Gulfstream released a flight planning app for the Apple iPad, saying that it will streamline the flight planning process.

And that was pretty much that. Overall, visitor numbers were expected to be similar to last years’, but there was a noticeable dip in the number of aircraft on display. This year there were 43 aircraft, continuing the slow decline from the 70 aircraft on display in 2012.

But the good times will return. Brazil is third largest business jet market in the world. And it will become hot again.
