G280 certified for steep approaches
The Gulfstream G280 has been certified for steep approach operations by the US FAA and the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel (CAAI).
The airplane recently flew several take-offs and landings at London City Airport, the final step to obtain approval from the London City Airport Operations and Control Department to operate at the British airport near the city’s financial district.
“The ability to operate at London City gives our G280 operators quick access to one of the world’s great financial centers as well as the Gulfstream Sales and Design Center in nearby central London.”
Scott Neal, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales, Gulfstream said: “The ability to operate at London City gives our G280 operators quick access to one of the world’s great financial centers as well as the Gulfstream Sales and Design Center in nearby central London.”
“From London City, this powerful mid-size aircraft offers nonstop access to all of Europe and Northern Africa,” added Neal.
In order to fly in and out of London City, an aircraft must be certified for steep approaches. Additionally, the flight crew must demonstrate proficiency on the 5.5-degree approach and must be able to operate from the airport’s short runway.
