Bombardier brings EVS and HUD to Challenger 350
Bombardier has introduced Head-up Display (HUD) and Enhanced Vision System (EVS) to its Challenger 350 midsize jets.
Both enhancements will be available for new aircraft orders as well as retrofit options for aircraft already delivered.
A HUD sits just forward of the cockpit window, in the pilot’s view, and displays images that are hard to see with the naked eye. These include runway settings as well as navigation data and setting.
The EVS adds to this by overlaying topographical features onto the HUD that may not be visible to the pilot’s eye. It is especially useful during darkness or inclement weather as the pilot will have situational awareness of surroundings that would otherwise be invisible.
“Added to the Challenger 350 aircraft’s already well-equipped flight deck, the HUD and EVS options will enhance the pilot’s situational awareness to provide passengers with an even smoother flight,” said David Coleal, president, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “The Challenger 350 jet leads the market in unit sales, and our commitment to continuously innovate and elevate this aircraft clearly demonstrates our promise to offer our customers nothing but the finest experience on board the industry’s best-selling business jet.”
Bombardier says that the HUD and EVS option will be especially useful during take-off and landing, as pilots will be able to see critical information without having to look away from the HUD.
