Nashville, Tenn. – Stevens Aviation has recently completed the first certified installation of the Blackhawk XP67A engine upgrade on a King Air 350, which includes MT’s 5-blade props, while mating it to a complete new installation of a Garmin G1000 NXi Integrated Flight Deck, which now supports the XP67A engine conversion.

This installation was completed at Stevens’ Nashville site which stands as one of Blackhawk and Garmin’s most experienced and successful dealers and installation facilities. This particular installation was completed while Garmin was completing the STC modification on the G1000 NXi system to include the XP67A engine conversion in July.

The engines give this aircraft a 40+kt speed increase plus a much stronger climb-to-altitude capability not seen before with the stock 350 engines. Blackhawk has a growing list of standing orders for these as the exposure and popularity grows. The G1000NXi replaced the existing Collins ProLine 21 suite to give all new equipment and updated capabilities while losing nearly 200 lb. in hardware and wiring.

Stevens has completed many Blackhawk and G1000 installations on all King Air models prior to this event, but this project required a significant depth of installation and engineering experience due to being the first of its kind.
