Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL), a division of The Monarch Group, has sent a team of structural aircraft engineers from its headquarters at London Luton Airport to Basel in Switzerland to complete a Strut Improvement Programme (SIP) on a Boeing 767 VIP aircraft for Jet Aviation.

The SIP is a rebuild of the engine pylons to restore their damage tolerance capability. The possible pylon damage was an acknowledged fault by Boeing back in the 1990’s and many commercial aircraft built at the time need their pylons to be inspected and the work carried out from time to time.

Derek Gibson, compliance and service delivery director for MAEL, said: “Our flexible maintenance solutions prove to be a great asset to our customers. This an excellent example of how MAEL’s reputation in Europe, together with our capability to second a highly skilled work force to a location away from our main UK locations at the customer’s request, has resulted in a very worthwhile opportunity for the company and the team involved.”

The company gained its Bermuda Department Civil Aviation approval in October 2013.
