Embraer Launches Updated Phenom 300E
It might be the bigger side of the market that gains most of the attention, with manufacturers announcing new models that can fly further, faster and are bigger than their rivals.
But the light jet category is also fiercely competitive – although dominated by the Embraer Phenom 300. The Phenom 300 has been the most-delivered light jet in the industry for the past seven years.
Embraer clearly wants to keep that top position. It’s a place that will be secured, it hopes, by the introduction of a new version of the Phenom 300E. The latest variant has performance and avionics updates, as well as the Bossa Nova interior, which was first introduced with the company’s larger Praetor 500 and Praetor 600.
With the latest performance improvements, the Phenom 300E became the first single-pilot business jet capable of a cruise speed of Mach 0.80, up from Mach 0.78. Range with five passengers is also up, increased to 3,724km from 3,650km.
Inside the cabin, aside from the new Bossa Nova interior, the new Phenom 300E comes fitted with a 4G connection via the Gogo AVANCE L5 communications system.
“Despite the Phenom 300’s extraordinary success in the past decade, our team of visionaries is always striving to deliver the ultimate experience to our customers, which means taking an industry-leading aircraft and making it even better, faster and safer,” said Michael Amalfitano, President & CEO, Embraer Executive Jets. “Boundless imagination and intelligent engineering gave birth to the Phenom 300E, and it is with that same spirit that we continue enhancing the most popular business jet of the decade.”
Embraer says that it has also worked on reducing cabin noise, as well as high-frequency noise and noise during boarding.
Upfront, the new Phenom 300E has an avionics update that includes an emergency descent mode. It will be the first business jet to include a runway overrun awareness and alerting system, which actively warns pilots if the aircraft’s descent rate is too steep or fast.
Embraer will begin deliveries of the new Phenom 300E in May 2020.
