West Star Aviation supporting Gogo C1 installations

West Star Aviation is ready to support installations of Gogo’s newly certified C1 line replaceable unit (LRU).
This week Gogo announced the granting of supplemental type certification (STC) for this unit across 42 aircraft models, which covers about 70% of their legacy air-to-ground customer aircraft in North America.
“Our collaboration with Gogo for the installation of the C1 highlights the capabilities of West Star Aviation’s extensive network of dedicated technicians,” said Allen McReynolds, president and chief operating officer of West Star Aviation. “We fully understand the critical role connectivity plays for our customers, and we are dedicated to providing support in every possible way. We aim to ensure a smooth transition, allowing our clients to fully enjoy the improved in-flight experience they rely on.”
As an authorised Gogo dealer, West Star has a network of over 200 AOG technicians and multiple mobile repair teams, and can execute installations at any of its facilities, in customers’ hangars or on the road.
After the installation is completed, customers will have the opportunity to apply for a $35,000 rebate. It is important to note that customers must commit to the C1 unit by December 31st 2025, to be eligible for the direct to customer rebate after installation.
Last month, West Star was acquired by Greenbriar Equity Group. The MRO firm was previously owned by Texan private equity company The Sterling Group. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Stephen Maiden, CEO of West Star, said: “We are on the brink of an exciting evolution, and we couldn’t be more energised by the opportunities ahead. Greenbriar’s extensive expertise in the aviation sector will enable us to serve our customers more effectively while ensuring the steadfast support of our remarkable workforce— an essential foundation of our success.”
